DEVELOPERS / AGENTS
Let your coding agent turn images into editable files.
Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any MCP client sends an image by https URL or base64 and gets back a download link for an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) or SVG.
1. Create an API key
Sign in with Google and open https://unraster.ai/developers/api-keys. Keep the key secret: it spends your account credits. Store it in an environment variable named UNRASTER_API_KEY.
export UNRASTER_API_KEY="your-api-key"2. Connect the MCP server
Server URL: https://unraster.ai/mcp (Streamable HTTP, stateless). Authenticate every request with the header Authorization: Bearer $UNRASTER_API_KEY.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http unraster https://unraster.ai/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer $UNRASTER_API_KEY"Your shell fills in the key when you run the command, and Claude Code saves it in its configuration.
Cursor
Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project). Cursor reads the key from your environment.
{
"mcpServers": {
"unraster": {
"url": "https://unraster.ai/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer ${env:UNRASTER_API_KEY}"
}
}
}
}Codex
Add this to ~/.codex/config.toml. Codex sends the value of UNRASTER_API_KEY as the Bearer token.
[mcp_servers.unraster]
url = "https://unraster.ai/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "UNRASTER_API_KEY"Other MCP clients
Use the same URL and Authorization header in any client that supports Streamable HTTP servers.
Skill package
Install the Claude Code plugin to get this MCP server plus a ready-made image-to-PowerPoint skill. It uses the same API key from UNRASTER_API_KEY.
claude plugin marketplace add zane-labs/agent-skills
claude plugin install unraster@zane-agent-skillsTools

| get_conversionRead-only | conversion_id | Status, progress and download links when ready. |

outputsset topptxonly. If it fails, the free conversion stays available. - SVG: 1 credit. PowerPoint: 2 credits. Both: 3 credits.
- Only delivered files are charged. A failed conversion is not charged.
- Quotes, progress checks and downloads are free.
Limits
- PNG, JPEG and WebP only.
- Images fetched by URL: up to 25 MiB. Base64 images: up to 5 MB after decoding.
- Image URLs must use https and point to a public host. Private and internal addresses are refused.
- Download links are valid for 7 days, and anyone with the link can download the file. Do not share them publicly.
Example prompts
Convert https://example.com/slide.png into an editable PowerPoint and give me the link.
Check how many credits converting ./chart.png to SVG and PPTX would cost.
Turn this screenshot into an SVG and save it to assets/logo.svg.
For the last prompt, the agent converts the image and then downloads the file from the returned link.
FAQ
Do I pay if a conversion fails?
No. Only delivered files are charged, and a failed conversion is not charged. Quotes, progress checks and downloads are free.
Where do the files go, and how long are links valid?
Results come back as download links that stay valid for 7 days. Anyone with a link can download the file, so do not share it publicly. Ask your agent to save the file into your project if you need to keep it.
Can I use it without an MCP client?
Yes. The same conversions are available through the REST API; see the API documentation.
Which key permissions are needed?
conversions:read and conversions:write. The read-only tools use the first; creating a conversion needs the second.
Is my image used for anything else?
Images are processed to produce your files. See the privacy policy for details.
